The Grudge (2004). Still gives me nightmares.

I saw The Blair Witch Project at a time when I was young enough to believe my A-hole brother when he told me it was all real.

Soon after that I saw a movie called Begotten.

Don’t watch Begotten.

Trust me.

Both instances i thought I’d seen a snuff film and was disturbed for a long while.

Oh man, I feel you on The Blair Witch Project! I totally bought into the ‘real footage’ hype too, and it messed me up for a bit. But Begotten? I’ve heard things… unsettling things. Now that you’ve warned me, I think I’ll take your advice and steer clear. That’s some next-level nightmare fuel!

I was going to say both the grudge (i havent seen the full first one AND i REFUSE to even touch the second one with any cell of me dead OR alive) and the ring (but just the first one the rest of them just became thrillers after that…)!!

I get that! The Grudge definitely had that lingering creep factor, but The Ring (or Samara specifically) didn’t really scare me much either. Maybe because of Scary Movie making it more funny than terrifying for me. 😆 But yeah, the sequels definitely leaned more into thriller territory than true horror!
